**PURPOSE **To lead and foster the growth and development of the Strings program at Lowther Hall.
**KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
- Oversee the String Program and Instrumental Music Program (Strings) in
consultation with the Director of Music and the Head of Junior School Music.
- Actively promote the Strings program within the school.
- Take responsibility for the Strings curriculum and repertoire.
- Manage staffing for ensembles, including conducting and assisting tutors.
- Oversee the recruitment and allocation of ensemble members.
- Teach private students from beginner level to VCE and Diploma level
- Plan and conduct rehearsals and performances for ensembles of varying ages and
- ability levels
- Oversee all Strings-related events, meetings, and concerts.
- Set agendas, run, and minute meetings involving all Strings staff.
- Communicate effectively with Strings students, staff, and parents.
- Manage the Strings instrumental inventory and coordinate repairs.
- Manage all Strings reports at scheduled intervals throughout the year.
- Assist in the planning and implementation of the Instrumental Music Program for
- Years 3-8.
- Play an active role in planning public concerts and performances such as the
Evening of Song, Annual Music Concert, Eisteddfods, Winter String Festival,
workshops, Music Camp, and potential tours for the Ensembles.
- Involve Lowther Hall Strings students in the school and wider community through
external concerts, Eisteddfods, and workshops.
- Invite professional performers to the school and organise performances and
workshops.
- Liaise and communicate with the Director of Music, Head of Junior School Music,
Heads of Instrumental Departments, Administrator, and Music colleagues, as well as
members of the wider school community.
- Assist, when required, the Director of Music with School Musicals (Junior and Senior
School).
- Perform other duties as directed by the Director of Music.
**OTHER AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY**
- Establish student-centred learning conditions that incorporate diverse approaches
and promote excellence.
- Adhere to Lowther Hall's curriculum, teaching and learning, and assessment and
reporting policies and practices.
- Implement the pastoral policies and practices of Lowther Hall in line with school
guidelines.
- Engage in child-safe practices according to the School's Child Safe policies and
procedures.
- Utilise appropriate technology in the teaching and learning of music.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and progress.
- Provide periodic progress reports on individual students.
- Collaborate effectively as part of the Music Department team.
- Monitor, record, and report on each student's progress both verbally and in writing.
- Dress and present professionally in accordance with the School’s requirements.
- Ensure the needs of all students are met, including those from Aboriginal and Torres
Strait Islander backgrounds, culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, those
with disabilities, and those with vulnerabilities.
- Understand and comply with Child Safety Standards.
- Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety requirements.

**TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE AND JOB SPECIFIC SKILLS**
- Suzuki accreditation, an advantage
- An understanding of the Lowther Hall context
- An appropriate undergraduate study/qualification
- A current and appropriate VIT/WWCC registration
- Willingness to undertake a National Criminal History Record Check upon appointment
- An understanding of child safe standards
- Current Level 2 First Aid and CPR Certificate - with a commitment to on-going training
- Current anaphylaxis management qualification
- Current asthma management qualification
