**About our client**

Legacy is a charity providing services to Australian families suffering financially and socially after the incapacitation or death of a spouse or parent, during or after their defence force service. We currently care for around 43,000 widows and 1,300 children and 1,100 beneficiaries with a disability throughout Australia. All Legacy Clubs and their associated entities are members of Legacy Australia Inc.

**Role responsibilities**

Reporting into the CEO, the National Policy, Governance and Projects Officer will support the Board of Legacy Australia Inc and work closely with sub-committees providing governance and advice that support Legacy Clubs across Australia.

Working closely with the Advocacy Committee in particular, you will also work across a varied portfolio of typical responsibilities such as:

- In consultation with relevant LA Inc. staff, develop and maintain LA Inc policies, procedures, and guidelines
- Maintain the Risk Management Register, as well as provide regular review and advice of policies and supporting procedures
- Manage the Legacy Australia Education Fund, liaison with AVCAT and other scholarship funds (in tandem with the Manager Finance and Administration), including developing of policies for administering of funds to beneficiaries as needed
- Project management of beneficiary self-development programs organised with third parties
- Provide support to the Advocacy Committee (responsible for providing wellbeing, compensation, and aged care advice as well as reviewing and developing wellbeing, compensation and aged care policies, procedures, guidelines, and programs for the approval of the Board)
- Supporting the Advocacy Committee in providing submissions to the Federal Government, the DVA, other Government Departments, Commission’s and more
- Provide assistance in convening meetings and support the delivery of agreed Advocacy projects
- Assist the LA Inc Advocacy Committee in various activities such as coordinating the annual National Advocacy Forum
- There may be a requirement for some out of hours work and possible travel required

**Essential Requirements**

You will be a self-starter and have a solutions-finding mindset. You will be comfortable working in a small team environment and being able to build strong relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders.
- Strong administration skills with intermediate-advanced skills in the Microsoft Office suite
- Attention to detail, and the ability to synthesise and articulate complex information
- Experience in policy development, policy analysis, or project management will be highly regarded
- Good initiative to find solutions when presented with roadblocks or challenges
- Excellent relationship-building skills, ability to connect with a wide variety of stakeholders
