ABOUT US
The Salvation Army is one of Australia’s largest and most-loved charities, helping thousands of Australians every year find hope in the midst of all kinds of personal hardship. The Salvation Army offers the opportunity to use your professional skills and expertise to make a real difference in the lives of people who need help most.
- Salvos Stores - Area Manager Gold Coast
- Are you an experienced multi-site retail leader with a passion for people?
- Are you commercially astute and results focused, but also driven by a desire to make a difference in this world?
- Would you like to feel that you are working for something bigger than the bottom line?
If you’ve answered YES to the above, then we’d love to hear from you
Due to an internal transfer, Salvos Stores has a vacancy for the position of Area Manager Gold Coast, overseeing stores around the Gold Coast and Northern Rivers NSW, including Byron Bay, Murwillumbah, Tweed Heads, and more. This role reports directly to the Regional Manager ACT/NSW/QLD and is a permanent position.
As an Area Manager you know what it means to be commercially successful, and you also know that success comes from leading, coaching and developing your team. At Salvos Stores your team will be an amazing group of passionate and dedicated Store Managers, who each day deliver an outstanding store experience for their customers, and achieve positive social and environmental outcomes for the community.
Salvos Stores is certainly not your average retailer. Our unique business proposition in Salvos Stores means that no two products are the same, and every day is literally a different day. You will therefore be adaptable, comfortable with change, and able to respond quickly to challenges as they arise. We’re looking for someone who’ll thrive as a leader in our business, and have the capabilities and drive to lead and grow the Vic Northern Area.
Ideally you’ll have a fashion background, and know your brands, and you may also know a thing or two about homewares, furniture and books. However, even if you’ve come from a different retail background we’d still love to hear from you. What is essential is that you’re a proven people leader who knows how to: empower your team and have fun; deliver outstanding results in a dynamic and rewarding retail environment, and have a passion for sustainability and making a difference in people’s lives.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Leading, growing and developing a team of paid employees and volunteers so they can achieve their results, and be the best they can be
- Ensuring extraordinary customer service is provided every day, both in-store and Online
- Reading, analyzing and interpreting business reports to deliver on all business targets and outcomes, and knowing the levers to pull to achieve results
- Embedding exceptional operational and visual merchandising standards
- Role-modeling a ‘safety first’ culture in our stores
- Opening new stores, and overseeing all refurbishments
- Ensuring compliance with all company policies and procedures
Working for Salvos Stores is a rewarding experience, which goes beyond a normal job. Our surplus is directed into programs run by The Salvation Army, so every day our teams come to work knowing their efforts can literally transform lives.
To be successful in this role you must possess excellent people leadership and multi-site retail management abilities. You will be an outstanding written and verbal communicator, with demonstrated ability to inspire people through change.
You will be a high energy, hands-on individual and will bring your proven track record in providing extraordinary customer service to the role. As someone known for your integrity, you will be comfortable aligning to The Salvation Army Mission and Values.
If you’re excited by this unique opportunity, the above sounds like you, and you have a heart for working for an organization that truly does transform lives, we would love to speak to you.
