**Selection Criteria**:

- ** Trade qualification** (e.g. carpentry, plumbing, electrical, or equivalent) and demonstrated experience in facilities maintenance or building works.
- Proven ability to independently manage and complete maintenance tasks, repairs, and minor capital works.
- Strong problem-solving and initiative, with a proactive approach to asset upkeep and infrastructure improvement.
- Experience working with contractors and external trades, including obtaining quotes and overseeing on-site work.
- Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and adapt to a busy school setting.
- Capacity to work collaboratively with school staff and leadership while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.

**Role**:

- Objectives will, generally, be clearly defined; guidelines will be broad and day-to-day direction mínimal. Management responsibility extends to ensuring appropriate support levels are maintained across the school. Range 4 generally provides key support and timely advice to the leadership team and school council and liaises with the general school community, the Department and other government agencies and service providers.
- Specialised professional roles will carry a high level of independence and accountability where suitable scope is provided to achieve objectives.
- An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students, but must not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students cannot be required except where it is an integral part of the employee¿s position or involves supervision of students individually or in small groups, in controlled circumstances, where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.

**Responsibilities**:
**Key Responsibilities**
- Undertake and coordinate general maintenance and repair works across all school facilities, with a focus on building, structural, and trade-related issues.
- Scope, plan, and deliver small-scale building and site improvement projects, ensuring compliance with relevant safety and regulatory requirements.
- Identify and respond to urgent or emerging maintenance needs, prioritising tasks to minimise disruption to school operations.
- Liaise with external trades, contractors, and suppliers to obtain quotes, schedule works, and ensure timely and high-quality outcomes.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, site works, and contractor engagement.
- Ensure compliance with OH&S standards and report any site hazards or risks appropriately.
- Collaborate with leadership and relevant school teams to plan preventative maintenance and future works.
- Monitor condition of buildings and infrastructure and make recommendations for upgrades or refurbishment.
- Oversee and manage use of maintenance tools, equipment, and supplies relevant to building and trade tasks.
