- AMEB or equivalent Grade 7 piano
- Have a clear singing voice

**Job description**:

- Teaching piano in a class environment of up to 10 children of ages starting 4.5 years old using a set course (Encore series)
- Be able to create and improvise short melodic exercise with appropriate harmony *
- Sing the repertoire to be taught in class using solfege (fixed doh) *
- Teach rhythm and lead the class in ensemble
- Teach basic concepts of musical notation
- Lesson plan each week’s lessons
- Upload each week’s homework on Google Classroom
- Mark the roll for each class

**About Us**:
We are a prestigious music school located in Phillip, in Canberra providing music tuition for all ages. We provide music classes starting from early ages up to adults above and beyond. We offer group classes for early childhood, junior piano, junior violin, and adult piano, and individual tuition on various instruments across the field. We hold annual concerts for individual instruments as well as group classes. Our Aspire program provides an intensive program for our higher level students giving them the opportunity for ensemble, solo performances, and other classes to solidify their learning. Our group classes are aurally based, teaching the foundations of music through piano. They form an excellent base for students to progress to higher levels or other instruments.

**What we expect from our group teachers**:

- Well thought out weekly lesson planning in consultation with the Encore Manager
- Attend Encore meetings (3-4 times a year)
- Attend training sessions (in negotiation with the Encore Manager)
- Participate in Annual Concert
- Perform at the Annual Concert
- Have a genuine interest in the students
- Have a basic understanding of harmony
- Good communication skills
- Good organisation skills

**Training**:
Training to teach the Encore course costs roughly $2000. This will be provided to you at no cost, however, we expect that you will commit to at least 2 years to teaching our group classes once training is completed. After training, there may be opportunities to take the Early Childhood Courses as well.

**Hours**:
You will start with teaching up to 6 x 45 minutes classes a week (Tuesdays from 3:45pm - 6pm, Saturdays from 1:15pm - 3:30pm). This can increase depending on your performance and where there is a need.

**Remuneration**:
You will be working as a contractor. The pay rate is:

- $56 an hour probationary period (roughly 3 months or in review with the Encore manager)
- $69 an hour regular rate
- Our classes are on only during the school term: (40 weeks a year)
- 10 weeks each term in accordance with the ACT School terms
- No classes are held during the public holidays or school holidays.
- Opportunities for teaching individual catch up lessons in the holidays - pay rate $45 for 30 minutes

Training will occur before the start date

Pay: $56.00 - $69.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 6 per week

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday
- Weekend availability
