Nursing Service Director

An exciting opportunity exists for a Nursing Service Director - Mental Health and Specialised Servies to exercise advanced clinical, management, leadership and / or specific portfolio expertise, experience and aptitude to provide highly developed corporate support in order to optimise nursing/midwifery practice and services. The Nursing Service Director is accountable for the efficient and effective use of human and material resources in a specific area within a dynamic health environment, based on the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia - Registered Nurse Standards of Practice. This role works in collaboration with the Nursing and Midwifery Leadership Team to drive professional and workforce issues.
The MHSS provides hospital-based inpatient, residential, community / ambulatory mental health services and community alcohol and drug service to those living within the Sunshine Coast region. The service assists individuals, families and carers of all ages with mental illness and/or substance misuse to realise their optimal potential as individuals and ensures the care provided is: 'person centred, recovery oriented, evidence-based and inclusive of family and carers'. Care is delivered through a multidisciplinary team that can comprehensively address the consumer needs and consistently works on establishing and building on sustainable partnerships with our non-government organisations and local general practitioners to ensure continuity of care.
**Key responsibilities include**:
- Understand your broad responsibilities for safety and quality in healthcare, actively participate in continuous quality and safety improvement activities within the workplace and notify a relevant clinical or non-clinical responsible officer when concerns exist about workplace or patient safety.
- Practice in accordance with code of ethics, professional standards and legislation affecting nursing practice by maintaining current knowledge and competence within scope of position.
- Lead, develop and be accountable for access and flow in a 24 hour, 7 day a week response from a whole of organisation perspective.
