Nursing Service Director

An exciting opportunity exists for the Nursing Service Director - Medical Services to exercise advanced clinical, management, leadership portfolio expertise, experience and aptitude to provide highly developed corporate support in order to optimise nursing & midwifery practice and services, whilst being accountable for the efficient and effective use of human and material resources across the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service (SCHHS) within a dynamic health environment.
Medical Services comprises a diverse range of both inpatient and ambulatory care models of care across four campuses with Sunshine Coast Univeristy Hospital (SCUH) being the largest. As the largest directorate in the SCHHS, the Nursing Service Director - Medical Services is responsible for a broad range of clinical and professional standards, performance and activity of the approximately 1300 nurses that work in the group and works closely with the Executive to achieve the expected outcomes of the HHS Service Agreement with the Department of Health and the Operational Plan.
**Key Responsibilities include**:
- Adhere to defined service quality standards, health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being understand to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
- Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with Schedule 2, Nurses and Midwives (Queensland Health Award) - State 2015 - Generic Level Statements Nurse Grade 12 and the Queensland Public Service values.
- Understand your broad responsibilities for safety and quality in healthcare, actively participate in continuous quality and safety improvement activities within the workplace and notify a relevant clinical or non-clinical responsible officer when concerns exist about workplace or patient safety.
- Practice in accordance with code of ethics, professional standards and legislation affecting nursing practice by maintaining current knowledge and competence within scope of position.
