**The Role**:
Based at the Moderna facility in Melbourne, and reporting to the Head of EHS - International Operations, this position will lead the Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) function at Moderna's future site, supporting operations in a new state-of-the-art advanced mRNA manufacturing facility.

**Here’s What You’ll Do**:
Represent the site and Moderna EHS as the project moves from construction to operations phase; working closely with the project teams, Principal Contractor, Construction Manager and the contractors EHS teams to ensure adherence to local and company EHS requirements.

Ensure all EHS aspects are addressed in anticipation of operations commencement.

Partner with site leadership, Corporate EHS and other key stakeholders to define, develop and implement the site EHS strategy, aligned with company and site objectives, while providing on-going strategic and technical advice to the site organization.

Develop and implement the site EHS Management System, identifying and assessing all EHS risks and ensuring suitable policies, procedures and programmes are in place to manage risks associated with future manufacturing and laboratory operations.

Ensure these EHS policies, procedures and programmes are integrated into business operations, measuring performance using appropriate KPI’s and identifying opportunities for improvement.

Provide leadership and technical expertise to the site regarding all aspects of Environment, Health & Safety risk management, while fostering a positive EHS culture.

Proactively steer site-wide efforts regarding environmental stewardship and sustainability.

Ensure compliance across the full range of EHS aspects including, but not limited to, environmental licenses, relevant health and safety regulations, chemical and biological safety, occupational health, etc.

Oversee the site’s emergency and crisis management approach, ensuring plans are optimised, tested and effective.

Ensure documentation is prepared and updated in line with all regulatory guidelines and promote compliance to EHS and cGMP regulatory requirements.

Identify EHS training needs for all site personnel and develop and deliver suitable, engaging and effective training programmes.

Represent Moderna in dealings with external EHS authorities & inspectors and act as technical expert in all EHS matters.

This role may also take ownership for and lead a number of Global EHS programs.

**Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table**:
University degree in Environmental, Health, Safety, Engineering or other relevant field.

Minimum of 10 years EHS experience in the life sciences sector, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

Demonstrated ability to establish a clear vision and align site EHS strategies with the strategic and operational needs of the business; connecting & collaborating with site leadership and key stakeholders to support the achievement key business goals.

Experience and expertise in designing and implementing clear, concise and effective site EHS management systems and all associated programs, procedures and standards.

Deep understanding of all EHS related requirements and laws in the United Kingdom.

High degree of competence and experience across the EHS spectrum, including environmental programs, occupational safety programs, permitting, biosafety, compliance and regulatory interaction.

Proven track-record of building a positive EHS culture and driving integrated ownership of EHS.

Fosters collaborative relationships across functions through influencing and negotiation skills, with a demonstrated ability to inspire and influence at all levels of the organization.

Enhanced leadership skills, particularly in stakeholder management.

Driven by the continual pursuit to achieve world class EHS performance.

High proficiency in MS Office programmes, excellent writing skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail.

Excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently and effectively in a highly dynamic environment.
