**Your new company**
An important Government organisation who delivers policies, programs and advice on health, aged care and sport with the purpose of ensuring better health for all Australians. You will be part of a division whose focus is supporting access to high quality health services through the deliverance of a sustainable, highly-trained, and well distributed workforce.
The Rural Access Branch is tasked with improving access to health services in regional, rural and remote areas through outreach programs and workforce distribution and workforce distribution strategies. As part of the Rural Policy Section you will be responsible for delivering policies and programs to support the recruitment and retention of GP’s in rural and remote communities as well as the improvement of patient access to primary care services in areas of market failure in rural and remote Australia.
**Your new role**
Working collaboratively across the department your team will respond to rural health medical workforce issues through the design and implementation of health workforce reform measures as well as managing health workforce outreach programs, incentives and innovative models of primary care.
Key responsibilities:
- Prepare briefs, ministerial submissions and correspondence, reports, policy papers and other products for the departmental executives and governance forums.
- Design, develop, implement and administer the Australian Government’s commitments and programs. - Establish and maintain key relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Liaise across the department, with external agencies and stakeholders to facilitate delivery of programs and policies.
- Provide advice and technical expertise in specific areas of policy or project management.
- Manage multiple tasks and the timely completion of projects.
- Interpret, draft and advise on policy and procedural directions.
- Contribute to the development of team objectives, work plans and strategic planning.
**What you'll need to succeed**
The successful applicant will have experience in policy and program development, implementation and management as well as highly developed research, analytical, strategic thinking and problem solving skills. You will be required to demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to confidently present messages in a clear, concise and articulate manner.
You will be able identify broader factors, trends and influences that may impact outcomes as well as quickly gaining understanding of complex program and system requirements. The ability to develop and maintain productive, trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders is a necessity as well as the ability to negotiate and work collaboratively. Organisational and time management skills such as workload prioritisation and meeting deadlines is essential.
