About The Role
At Whitehaven, we are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Manager to lead the commercial function of our newly acquired Blackwater Mine within Bowen Basin in QLD. Your role will be responsible for overseeing and optimising commercial activities, which includes preparing budgets and reforecasts, accurately reflecting the mine’s expenditure (actual versus budgeted), contract negotiations, and ensuring cost-effectiveness.
Reporting into the mine’s General Manager, you will collaborate with various stakeholders, manage vendor relationships, and contribute to financial growth through effective commercial strategies by assessing risks, and implementing solutions to enhance overall the mine’s profitability. Additionally you will ensure compliance with industry regulations and a strong leader to foster a results-driven commercial team.

What You’ll Bring
- Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Commerce or Accounting
- Professional membership of either CA or CPA
- Commercial experience in the mining industry preferred (on-site, off-site, multi-site, and project development)
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills within a mining organisation with a track record of building high-performance teams.
- Advanced skills in management and financial accounting
- Experience with SAP (not essential) and Excel modelling
