**The Role**
As an APS5 Information and Records Management Officer (IRMO) you will be accountable under limited direction to perform and achieve complex information and records management work within an integrated workforce. You will be accountable to have and maintain a well-developed understanding of compliance to relevant legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence’s mission and policy requirements.

You will be accountable for organising your workflow and making independent decisions relating to your area of responsibility. You will interpret and provide advice within the information function based on legislation, policy and procedures, undertake specialist research and analysis, conduct reviews, assessments and investigations, as well as administrative support work to achieve results.

You may be required to supervise a team and be accountable to set work priorities, allocate tasks and assess performance.

The IRMO will also be required to engage and communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders including civilian, contracted and military personnel to identify, respond and provide advice on issues to achieve Defence outcomes.

**About our Team**
Submarine Division contributes to the defence of Australia by working with Navy and Industry counterparts in a submarine enterprise “to ensure that Australia has an enduring and potent submarine capability". The Information Management Cell, sits within this capability to assist all Submarine personnel to manage their obligations when creating, capturing, controlling and disposing of Defence records across business environments and systems.

You will work in a small team that works with systems across multiple classifications and in a multi-disciplinary environment of military, APS and contractor staff. You will require adaptability and determination to provide information and records management support across Subs Division.

You will have access to generous working conditions as an Australian Public Servant in Defence. You will be supported in balancing work life with family and other priorities, with a variety of flexible working arrangements available. Information on Defence employees’ working conditions, including an attractive remuneration package with a generous superannuation contribution (15.4%), can be sourced from the Defence Enterprise Agreement.

The duties of the APS5 Information and Records Management Officer within Submarine Division include:

- Coordinate and perform information and records management activities in accordance with the Archives Act 1983, relevant legislative and Defence policies and procedures.
- Prepare security classified information material in accordance with Defence requirements.
- Implement information and records management policies and procedures to physical and electronic records.
- Review and advise on governance requirements and maintain currency and integrity of information and record management systems by carrying out sentencing and disposition of corporate files in accordance with Enterprise Records Management requirements.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively and operate as an effective team member.
- Interpret and comply with legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks.
- Take the initiative to investigate and recommend solutions for complex issues.
- Coordinate and when required supervise the work of others undertaking a range of information and records management activities and tasks.
