**About the Opportunity**

MADEC is seeking a passionate and culturally aware **Indigenous Education Mentor** to support students in the **Indigenous Youth Leadership Program**. This role provides tailored academic assistance through one-on-one and small group tutoring, helping students build confidence, stay engaged, and successfully complete Year 12. This role is offered on a fixed-term basis, concluding in June 2026.

You’ll work closely with students, families, schools, and program staff to deliver culturally responsive support that encourages educational achievement and future pathways.

**Desired Skills and Experience**:
**About You**
- Demonstrated client-focused approach in service provision Experience in education, mentoring, or youth work of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people within our communities;
- Demonstrated experience in a secondary tutoring or education
- Communicate, consult and liaise with relevant professionals, clients, staff and community members to achieve identified organisational objectives and goals;
- Demonstrated understanding of the unique issues effecting and impacting upon the health of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth;
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team to achieve agreed goals and deadlines;
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples

In addition to the above, the desirable criteria are:

- The person identifies as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and is acknowledged as such by their community;
- Demonstrated experience in a Social & Emotional Wellbeing environments
- Familiarity of secondary school attainment requirements (e.g. SACE)
