A rare permanent opportunity to join the VBA's Practitioner Discipline team at the Victorian Building Authority.
Reporting to the Manager, Practitioner Discipline, principal decision makers utilise sound judgement to perform disciplinary functions under delegation from the Authority.
The required outcome is sound, consistent and robust disciplinary decision making which supports the VBA's effectiveness as a trusted Regulator.
As a Principal decision maker you will undertake critical processes to enable the practitioner discipline function to deliver core disciplinary functions under the Building Act 1993 (Act) which governs practitioner conduct and the ability to practise. Their core attribute is judgement.
Who we are looking for
- Admission to the legal profession in an Australian jurisdiction (that is, an Australian lawyer) and current Victorian or interstate practising certificate (unrestricted).
- Advanced understanding of administrative law principles, the principles of procedural fairness and principles of evidence.

- As a public sector and service standard, generally all new employees will start at the base entry level and increment throughout the salary range each year based on performance. Current public sector employees at the same grade will be considered for a transfer of entitlements with evidence. A request above entry level may be considered in certain circumstances.
