**Your Role**
The duties of an APS6 Information and Records Management Officer occupation in Defence include the following (note: not all duties are required to be performed during a 12 month performance cycle):

- Provide advice to stakeholders in relation to the life cycle of information and records management activities and relevant legislative and administrative guidance.
- Manage information and records management activities in accordance with the Archives Act 1983, relevant legislation and Defence policies and procedures.
- Review integrity of information to recommend its suitability for disclosure in accordance with legislative and administrative guidance.
- Develop and implement information and records management policies and procedures to achieve continuous improvement.
- Work collaboratively and negotiate with stakeholders to achieve outcomes.
- Facilitate the delivery of outcomes for the team.
- Investigate and recommend solutions for complex issues

**About Our Team**
The FOI Reviews team works as a subsection in the larger FOI Directorate, as part of the Media and Information Disclosure Branch in the MECC Division.

The Reviews space involves processing and managing FOI cases that progress from a standard FOI request to an Internal Review via the applicant's request.

The Internal Review team's function is to provide FOI applicant's an avenue for the decision of FOI cases to be reviewed by an internal case manager, prior to the applicant approaching the Office of the Information Commissioner for an External Review.

Within the Information function an APS6 Information and Records Management Officer is accountable under broad direction to perform and achieve complex information and records management work within an integrated workforce.

They are accountable to ensure they have knowledge of and compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence’s mission and policy requirements.

An APS6 Information and Records Management Officer will work independently with the opportunity for reasonable autonomy and accountability for the achievement of outcomes of their work.

They will provide detailed information and records management technical, professional and policy advice in relation to complex work and contribute to strategic planning, program and project management and policy development.

An APS6 Information and Records Management Officer may be a team coach or lead a team and be accountable to set work priorities and manage workflows.

They are expected to be capable of building team capability through coaching, feedback and developing the quality of work undertaken by others within a work unit.

They will exercise the associated people and financial responsibilities to achieve work unit outcomes.

An APS6 Information and Records Management Officer will have considerable level of stakeholder engagement and will liaise with stakeholders in relation to complex issues.

They will be required to identify, anticipate and respond to stakeholders’ needs and expectations to achieve work unit and Defence outcomes.

They will be accountable to contribute towards ongoing self-improvement and professional development.
