A vacancy currently exists in our Renewable Unit for a Lead Inspector (Renewables) at our Toowoomba/Ipswich office.
Prior experience as an 'Inspector' is not essential.

OIR contributes to the government's strategic objectives in the areas of workplace health and safety, electrical safety, workers' compensation, industrial relations and labour hire regulation.
We seek to improve work health and safety, electrical safety and workers' compensation performance through regulatory and policy frameworks and the provision of evidenced-based services and advice. We also develop, implement and maintain policy and legislation relevant to industrial relations in Qld including whole of Government responsibility for public sector enterprise bargaining and the regulation of Qld's labour hire industry.
As a Lead Inspector within our Renewable Unit, you will be part of an efficient flexible and responsive team that strives for to keep all Queenslanders safe around electricity. Some of your responsibilities will include:
Establish and manage relationships with relevant development and designer stakeholders to identify and influence electrical safety in critical design aspects of renewable energy projects within the state planning processes;
Monitor and enforce compliance by exercising the powers as an appointed inspector in accordance with the Electrical Safety Act 2002
Prepare complex technical reports, correspondence, submissions and briefs in response to ministerial requests and operational matters as directed by the Director Renewable Energy.
Monitor and report on strategy, programs and initiatives within the scope of the role and identify and address risks and issues impacting on achievement of objectives; and
Provide high-level advice to the Director Renewable Energy and other key stakeholders in relation to contemporary, contentious and emerging issues within the scope of the role.
Manage relationships with key stakeholders in industry, government, education, training and the wider community to identify ongoing and emerging needs and issues, develop initiatives, and provide advice to the Program Manager on these matters.
**To be successful in this role you will need**:
Demonstrated ability to provide and model constructive leadership behaviours as evidenced by significant experience in directing and supporting others to achieve desired outcomes, operational objectives and superior results, in a complex public sector environment.
Demonstrated high-level communication and interpersonal skills as evidenced by a record of achievement in high-level negotiations, consultations, reporting and public communication exercises.
Demonstrated ability to identify, rate and prioritise complex problems and issues, generate solutions and allocate priority issues to specialist work unit/staff or other agencies.
This role will challenge and develop your ability to engage with stakeholders, partners, and educate the community in electrical safety matters and ensure compliance within a regulatory framework.
