To lead staff in the Central Specimen Reception and Phlebotomy departments to achieve both organisational and personal objectives whilst undertaking operational supervision of the two work units.
Key competencies (role specific criteria)
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:

- Advanced level of technical skills in Phlebotomy.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the procedures and processes of Specimen Collection.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in the procedures and processes used in Specimen Reception together with a sound knowledge of laboratory operations.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills, commitment to teamwork, and the ability to communicate effectively with patients, nursing and medical staff and with other pathology staff.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams to positive outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to implement quality systems which meet NATA/ISO accreditation/certification requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and manage staff in line with quality human resource management practices with particular reference to Queensland Health Code of Conduct, employment equity, anti-discrimination, occupational health and safety and ethical behaviour.
- Demonstrated commitment to professional self-development.

Qualifications, registrations and other requirements
- While not mandatory a relevant qualification such as a Certificate 3 or 4 in Phlebotomy or Certificate IV in Pathology Laboratory Techniques would be well regarded.
- Contemporary computer skills required for Data Entry, Excel and Word and other computer-based systems is required to undertake the role.
- In some circumstances and following consultation, Queensland Health staff may be required to participate in 24-hour shift, on-call or weekend roster arrangements
