**THE ROLE**

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Design Manager Role will assist with pre-contracts and project works, project lifecycle phases, and support the ongoing growth and development of the Engineering Team within the Duratec business.

The Design Manager will initially be housed in Duratec’s National Marine Division with a short-term focus on delivering the Marine Portfolio and building structure within the Marine Division over time to support the growth and capability of the Marine Division.

Longer term, opportunity exists for growth into Defence and other key business units.

You will play an integral part in the Duratec team and the role will be focused on three key areas:
**Design Management**
- Active design management of major design & construction projects
- Support and mentor to delegated ‘Design Manager’ for minor design & construct projects

**Engineering Management**
- Lead technical role in support of project teams on construct-only projects
- Support in scoping, brief development and selection & engagement of technical consultants
- Assist with complex work packages
- Assist with temporary works management
- Technical reviews, risk and opportunity identification to client design
- Key Technical / Engineering liaison with client & client’s designer

**Growth and Development**
- Support continuous improvement to Company processes and procedures such as those associated with engineering management, design management and temporary works
- Assist in the establishment and sustainment of an Engineering Mentoring & Development programme to support the upskilling and growth of Duratec’s Engineering resources

**ABOUT YOU**

Along with previous experience in a similar role within the construction and/or engineering sectors you will have an interest in business develop along with;
- Multi-disciplined Design Management and project delivery experience
- Managed multiple stakeholder relationships across multi-faceted companies
- Commercial awareness with the ability to identify cost efficiencies
- An ability to identify and manage risks and opportunities in Engineering Design
- Experience with Digital Engineering & BIM

**Desirable Qualifications and Requirements**
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Design or Construction
- Drivers Licence
