**The Opportunity**:
The Department of Parliamentary Services in recruiting for a Parliamentary Executive Level 1 Assistant Director within the Parliamentary Broadcasting Services section of the Digital Recording Services Branch.

The Digital Recording Services Branch is responsible for broadcasting and archiving the audiovisual record of chamber and committee proceedings and for producing the official written record of parliamentary debates and committee hearings, known as the Hansard.

**Who we are looking for**:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to lead a fast-moving and complex Broadcasting area, working collaboratively to provide leadership support to the section.

**Job Specific Requirements**
- Broadcasting staff are required to provide professional advice and services to all Senators and Members without favour or prejudice.
- Broadcasting staff will be required to work extended and/or irregular hours on an "as required" basis. Duties may also require interstate travel as directed.
- Broadcasting staff may be deployed to duties of an equivalent level in this or another area of the department to meet changing work priorities
- The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (Protected/Restricted) security clearance.

**Immediate supervisor**:Director, Parliamentary Broadcasting

Under limited/general direction undertake duties in accordance with the agreed standards for the Parliamentary Executive Level 1 classification. The duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Work in close consultation with the Director, Parliamentary Broadcasting to facilitate the delivery of cost effective, and high-quality broadcasting services to the parliament and external clients.
- Manage Parliamentary Broadcasting staff to deliver relevant services by providing strategic direction and professional guidance.
- Supervise and monitor the training and development of Parliamentary Broadcasting staff in the live broadcast and post-production aspects of operational activities, including training program development.
- Build team capability through coaching, providing timely performance feedback, supporting conflict resolution, and encouraging career development.
- Manage the Operation and Production Support teams including planning and allocating resources (staff and system) to meet established priorities during production and post-production phases.
- Review current strategies in the light of technological developments and stakeholder expectations.
- Develop and implement workforce models and practices for succession planning, staff development, recruitment and retention.
- Ensure that services are delivered within agreed timeframes, to an appropriate standard, and in line with mandated key performance indicators (performance criterion).

**Selection Criteria**:

- Demonstrated high level management skills including the capacity to effectively plan, develop and use human and other resources to achieve parliamentary goals and outcomes.
- Proven leadership ability with a demonstrated extensive production knowledge and experience in a high pressure live broadcasting environment including a strategic understanding of operational, production and technical issues.
- Proven ability to develop, recommend, implement and document operational policy including detailed user and administrative manuals.
- Strategic stakeholder focus with a demonstrated capacity to anticipate emerging stakeholder needs, plan for their achievement and manage stakeholder relationships and expectations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to work independently, with mínimal supervision, and work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Advanced analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills and the ability to make critical decisions under strict deadlines.
