**The Opportunity**:
The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is recruiting for a Parliamentary Executive Level 1 Assistant Director, Procurement within Planning and Quality Branch. We are seeking Procurement professionals to lead complex procurement and contract related activities whilst leading a small team to meet the procurment and contract management needs of DPS.

**Who we are looking for**:

- Demonstrated expertise, with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience, in conducting procurement and contract management.
- Demonstrated high level administration skills and the ability to oversee the development of contemporary procurement and contract management process.
- Understand strategic objectives of the department and develop work plans accordingly.
- Proven ability to communicate with influence and ability to nurture productive working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Adhere to Parliamentary Services Values and the code of conduct and consistently behave in an honest, ethical and professional way.

**Job Specific Requirements**:

- Certificate IV in Procurement and Contracting or higher is essential.
- Experience in any of the following is highly desirable, administration, governance or finance.
- The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 (Confidential/Highly Protected/Secret) security clearance.

**Immediate supervisor**:Director, Procurement

Under limited/general direction undertake duties in accordance with the agreed standards for the Parliamentary Executive Level 1 classification. The duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Manage a small team that provides advice and assistance in procurement, contract management and other business processes.
2. Provide advance specialist advice on procurement and contract related matters across DPS.
3. Lead complex procurement and contract related activities that are fundamental to the day-to-day operations of DPS, using best practice and judgment.
4. Prepare and review a range of written material including reports, contracts, procurement documentation, Senate Estimates briefs, questions on notice and executive briefings.
5. Develop and deliver procurement and contract management training to DPS staff to build capability and capacity.
6. Maintain and administer the procurement and contract management tools and processes including preparation of policies, guides, templates, and procedures.
7. Provide leadership and mentor staff within the Quality Management section.
8. Represent the section at the highest levels, including dealing with other departments, contractors and other stakeholders.
9. Promote and implement the Parliamentary Services Values and business partnering culture.
10. Undertake other duties as directed.
