The role
Reporting to the Manager (Policy), the Principal Policy Officer will lead a range of strategic policy and program activities and projects to enable Queensland Health to efficiently discharge its system manager functions. You will be responsible for undertaking research, environmental scanning, and critical analysis to identify and advise on future strategic policy challenges, opportunities, and priorities. Additionally, you will provide expert advice and support on the development of strategic and Statewide policy.
The successful person
You must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, and have the ability to work under pressure. You must be solution-focused and have a positive learning attitude and the agility to work on multiple priorities.
You will have a proven track record in analysing and interpreting data and translating it into well-informed health policy. You will have strong writing skills and be experienced at preparing policy materials for a range of audiences. Your communication skills will be exceptional, and you will have a demonstrated ability to negotiate with, and influence, stakeholders to achieve high-quality policy outcomes.

The Aged Care Policy and Palliative Care Reform Unit in Social Policy and Legislation Branch, Office of the Director-General and System Strategy Division, provides strategic policy advice and support for older persons health and its portfolio of aged care services.
The Unit supports whole-of-government perspectives and policy outcomes, including advice to the Director-General to deliver upon obligations as an approved provider of aged care services. The Unit also leads the development of robust policy responses to the challenges posed by Commonwealth reforms and Queensland's ageing population.
