**What we do**

The Senior Executive Service (SES) play a key role in the delivery of the core functions of the Australian Public Service. They provide high quality policy advice to Government and implement Government programs including delivering services to the community.

Executive Officers provide professional administrative support to enable SES staff to effectively carry out their duties.

**About the role**

Executive Officer roles in Services Australia (the agency) provide high-level strategic and operational support to Senior Executives (SES) and their business areas to enable them to effectively carry out their duties. Executive Officers are usually based in a national office with varying tasks, depending on the operational needs and individual preferences of the SES staff member.

An Executive Officer’s role is varied but will generally involve providing high-level strategic and operational support. The role is typically fast paced with rigid timelines. Work may be required outside normal work hours to meet peak work demands.

You may lead/support the office of an SES Band 3 or Band 2 in the management and coordination of executive and ministerial correspondence, briefing notes, submissions and reports on complex policy issues, business priorities and other issues, including Cabinet submissions.

Executive Officers hold a position of trust and are required to manage professional relationships with senior staff and stakeholders, both internal and external to the agency. Maintaining close working relationships with the SES, the Minister’s office, Divisional and Branch representatives is critical.

The role requires a high-level of professionalism, discretion, tact and diplomacy in dealing with sensitive and/or confidential matters. You may be required to lead a small team of support staff to deliver outcomes.

We are recruiting to fill a range of EL1 Executive Officer roles supporting Senior Executive Service (SES) Band 3 and Band 2 staff across the agency and are looking for people who want to provide administrative excellence.

This recruitment process will result in the creation of a merit pool.

**Work Environment**

Work may be required outside normal work hours to meet peak work demands. Note: some roles may need to be performed in the office only depending on SES level.
