**Policy Officer Transport and Roads**
**Full-Time**
We are open to applicants with varied experience and knowledge who have an interest in transport and transport related issues.
In this role you will:
- Develop policy, advocacy positions, guidelines, procedures and discussion papers;
- Liaise with key external and internal stakeholders to undertake research and analysis
- Represent the interests of Local Government on various committees across WA, understand potential issues and matters arising from meetings and provide feedback to key stakeholders.
- Engage with State and Federal Government agencies, industry and other stakeholders to resolve relevant issues and progress opportunities.
- Support Local Governments by providing technical guidance.
Applicants with qualifications and expertise in planning, economics, environment, engineering and related fields are encouraged to apply.
**What are we offering?**
There is the opportunity for regional travel in this role including occasional multi-day work. A ‘C’ (car) class drivers’ licence is required with a vehicle provided for work related travel.
**The ideal early career applicant will have**:
- Good communication skills, with the ability to write clearly and accurately, and present effectively and confidently.
- Proficiency in data analysis and research
- Some experience in project planning, coordination and evaluation
- An awareness of and a willingness to learn more about Local, State and Federal Governments structures and operations.
- Some experience organising events and facilitating workshops (desirable)
**The ideal Policy Officer applicant will have**:
- Knowledge of Local, State and Federal Governments structures and operations.
- Good understanding of Local Government roles, responsibilities and decision making processes as it relates to transport issues.
- Superior communication skills, with the ability to write clearly and accurately, and present effectively and confidently.
- Demonstrated experience in policy development.
- Demonstrated experience in project planning, coordination and evaluation.
- Experience organising events and facilitating workshops.

WALGA has approximately 100 staff with the majority located in our West Leederville office and organised into key portfolios: Advocacy, Policy, Member Services, Infrastructure and Executive and Corporate Services.
