The RoadWise program has evolved and we're building a structure that's not just fit for today, but ready for tomorrow. As we grow, we're excited to welcome new leaders who are passionate about making a real difference. Right now, we're looking for a Manager Road Safety to guide our talented team through an exciting new phase, as well as two Senior Coordinators Road Safety to help us deliver programs that provide specialist support to Western Australian Local Governments.
Our current Manager Road Safety is taking extended leave, so we're searching for someone who can step in and lead with vision and energy. In this role, you'll set the direction for our road safety program of services, initiatives and projects, foster a culture of collaboration and excellence, and work closely with local governments, state agencies, and industry partners to make sure our work has real impact. You'll champion, guide and develop the team through continuous improvement of the services or products, designed to inspire and support Local Governments towards best practice road safety.
Every week will bring fresh challenges and opportunities, whether you're shaping strategy, supporting your team, or working with partners to drive continuous improvement. Your leadership will help keep RoadWise at the forefront of road safety in WA.
So, what does the role involve?
You'll be leading, coaching, and inspiring a multidisciplinary team to engage and support RoadWise Council Local Governments to build their capacity and capability to adopt and apply safe system aligned policy and practice. You'll develop and implement strategic plans, build strong relationships with stakeholders, oversee several budgets and funding applications, and represent WALGA on committees and working groups. You'll also be monitoring program effectiveness and always looking for ways to innovate and improve, while promoting a culture of safety, wellbeing, and professional growth.
We're looking for someone with proven experience in team leadership and program management, ideally in road safety, public health, or a related field. You'll have an advanced understanding of health promotion strategies and the safe system approach to road safety, strong stakeholder engagement and advocacy skills, and experience managing budgets and compliance in a complex environment. High-level communication, analytical, and strategic planning skills are a must, as is a collaborative, accountable, and innovative mindset that aligns with WALGA's values: Respect, Excellence, Accountability, Collaboration, and Curiosity.
If you're ready to take the next step in your career and help shape the future of road safety in WA, we'd love to hear from you.
This position involves travel within WA and will require a class 'C' Western Australian drivers licence with a demonstrated safe driving record.
Why you'll love working here.
In addition to this rare career opportunity, you'll also get 6 weeks' (30 days) annual leave and an extra day to celebrate your work anniversary every year. We understand that everyone has a life outside of work, so we provide our employees with flexible working options too.
We pride ourselves on offering a safe and inclusive culture with fantastic workplace benefits and entitlements, including setting budget aside for professional development. What we are most proud of is getting the chance to work on niche projects, with some incredibly talented people, on issues that matter.
WALGA's HQ in West Leederville is centrally located within easy reach of public transport, bike paths and paid parking options. We also provide excellent end of trip facilities for those arriving by alternate modes of transport. Our Thrive wellbeing program means you'll get to enjoy regular activities and initiatives (in fact we could be at a healthy mind seminar or a enjoying a fitness initiative whilst you're reading this.) We also have an active social club to cater for all interests, including a book club and trivia nights to name a few.
