**The Role**
The Workforce Planning Officer provides advice and assistance in the development and delivery of CASG’s workforce planning strategies and activities. This role contributes to the maturing of CASG’s strategic workforce planning function, including providing advice on the management and monitoring of initiatives and projects that arise from workforce planning activities. In addition, the role provides efficient analysis of workforce data to provide insights, and monitors progress against both operational and strategic workforce targets.
This opportunity will see you:
- Assist with the development and implementation of strategies to mature the group’s workforce planning capability, develop and deliver on workforce planning strategic projects and outcomes.
- Contribute to the provision of advice on specific workforce management and planning activities including workforce design, demand, supply and gap analysis, strategies and risks.
- Assist with the delivery of the CASG strategic workforce plan.
- Assist with the delivery of advice and guidance on the development of complex briefing materials and documentation.
- Liaise with stakeholders to obtain workforce-planning intelligence to support the development of recommendations for workforce issues.
- Under guidance, research the broader labour market and monitor external developments in policy and practice that may have an impact on the department’s future capability needs and workforce planning activities.
**About our Team**
The Workforce Planning team supports the department by developing workforce strategy and solutions, to meet the department’s current and future needs. Working in partnership with the business, the team provides services and advice on strategic and operational workforce planning, workforce analysis, and delivers on strategic workforce projects.
The team offers the business a high level of expertise and is forward-looking in its focus, as well as providing day to day support in resolving emerging operational issues. The operating environment is diverse and varied, and a high level of consultation is required to identify and address stakeholder needs.
The Department of Defence provides:

- Maintain knowledge of HR policies, practices and systems combined with an understanding of workforce planning and management principles.
- Contribute to the collection, manipulation, analysis and reporting of workforce data related to CASG employees.
- Engage and communicate with stakeholders and bring a customer service focus to the delivery of workforce planning functions.
- Demonstrate well-developed written and oral communication skills, including the ability to explain workforce management concepts to a non-HR audience.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of operational workforce management and planning activities that are connected and integrated with strategic workforce initiatives.
- Work collaboratively in a team based environment actively participating in and contributing to team meetings and exchange information to support the work area and team objectives.
