Your new role

As the GM, First Line Risk Governance, you’ll play a pivotal role in driving a culture of continuous improvement, simplification, and consistency across QBE’s first line risk, control testing and remediation teams in the Australia Pacific (AUSPAC) division.

Reporting directly to the Chief Governance & Executive Operations Officer for AUSPAC, this role focuses on building and maintaining focus, clarity and transparency across first line risk and remediation initiatives, identifying issues, driving momentum, elevating risk maturity and orchestrating strategic alignment. Furthermore, you’ll be responsible for connecting teams across our various operational, customer and enablement functions across AUSPAC and with Group to ensure we’re capturing and acting on our risk exposure and management holistically. Guiding QBE’s strategic plan, you’ll drive elevation of key themes and recommendations and implement agreed initiatives whilst fostering a culture of simplification and consistency across your teams.

In conjunction with AUSPAC Risk Governance, you’ll champion global risk frameworks, policies, and procedures, facilitating seamless adoption and monitoring their embedment within first line teams. Your leadership in regulatory reviews, investigations, and controls testing improvements will fortify our risk governance and technical performance.

Other key accountabilities include:
- Oversee the governance model, strategic roadmap and alignment of operational risk management practices across AUSPAC, driving consistency in approach.- Lead the AUSPAC Control Testing strategic and tactical activities, ensuring the maturation and effective implementation and management of controls.- Oversight of the AUSPAC Customer Remediation function/s and orchestration of the successful investigation, resolution and closure of root causes across the ecosystem.- Management information and analysis of key operational risk metrics, insights and the elevation of thematics at a portfolio level, bringing an enterprise mindset.- Support the functional risk committees including identifying AUSPAC insights; and providing central tracking and monitoring through to successful resolution.- Provide a central orchestration and triage point for initiatives, reviews, or projects that require coordinated responses both intra AUSPAC; and to support first lines participation in integrated assurance and other engagements with Group risk and compliance with AUSPAC first line.- Providing technical risk advice, guidance and challenge to first line risk teams and the Chief Governance & Executive Operations Officer- Rallying a diverse cohort of risk professionals to align with strategic goals and objectives.- Provide positive leadership and cultural influence to the first line risk, control testing and remediation teams, role modelling business partnering.

- Ability to lead and influence a team of senior professionals in a matrix environment - compelling action and activity; and educating and supporting stakeholders to outcome.- Ability to bring together a variety of views and priorities, aligning them to a shared plan, reporting rhythm and operating discipline.- Strong negotiation and influencing ability, particularly with senior stakeholders.- Ability to communicate insights and clear and distilled reports and narrative to Executive and Board stakeholders.
