About us
As a department our purpose is to help the community to prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from the impact of fire and emergency events.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) is the primary provider of fire, rescue and emergency management programs and services throughout Queensland. The department encompasses the Fire and Rescue Service, disaster management services, the Rural Fire Service and the State Emergency Service, and also supports other volunteer groups providing emergency response to Queenslanders.
QFES is one department with many services, many capabilities and many partners.
Purpose of the role
The Service Alignment unit is responsible for the delivery of the Service Alignment Program through the provision of high level strategic advice and support to business areas and key stakeholders with a focus on continuous improvement through organisational design, development and implementation to align with the QFES strategic plan and business objectives.
Reporting to the Executive Manager, you will be a key member of the team contributing to workplace engagement plans and enterprise change management capability. You will be responsible for developing, monitoring and delivering change management plans, tools and programs, and supporting large scale and complex change activities to align with the QFES strategic plan and business objectives.

- Previous experience as an organisational change practitioner/change consultant in a similar organisational environment.
- A member of the Change Management Institute.
Your key accountabilities
Your part in the ongoing success of our department, in supporting key frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of work, including, but not limited to:
- Contribute to the enhancement of the department's organisational culture, change and workforce experience and identify and implement improvement initiatives to enhance workforce capabilities.
- Develop, monitor and deliver organisational change management plans, tools and programs, considering the QFES strategic plan and business objectives.
- Provide change management advice and support to large scale and complex organisational change/transformation activities, including impact assessments and workforce engagement plans.
- Build organisational capability in change management including the integration and implementation of organisational change management principles and practices into business as usual activities.
- Contribute to building a values-based culture that embraces and is adaptive to change, enhancing organisational agility and resilience to meet departmental and community needs into the future.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to identify and access information, and resources relevant to activities and projects to achieve strategic outcomes.
- Engage with senior management and QFES staff and volunteers to understand their shared and individual experiences and assess organisational change impacts, readiness, risks and issues for various business change initiatives.
