**Your new company**
A large Asian food wholesaler is currently looking for a WHS Officer on a permanent basis for their Western Sydney site. There will be frequent travel required to their other interstate sites. Fluency in Chinese is essential for this role.
**Your new role**
You will assist be responsible for the overall WHS function and providing advice and support to all managers and team members on all aspects of WHS. Responsible for ensuring workplace compliance with Workplace Health and Safety guidelines. You will play a crucial role in promoting a safe working environment by maintaining safety measures, conducting risk assessments, health and well-being, injury prevention, work rehabilitation, and HR Support.
Responsibilities include:
- Identify and assess hazards, risks, and control measures for a specific operation or process.
- Account for all aspects of health, safety, well-being, workers compensation, and rehabilitation
- Conduct an ongoing review of operations and processes to identify potential hazards, risks, and control measures that should be implemented to reduce these risks, including all costs involved in implementing such measures.
- Assess and document hazards, risks, and controls consistent with established procedures and practices.
- Supervise the safe handling, storage & disposal of hazardous materials.
- Supervise the operation of any potential hazards in the workplace.
- Ensure that all company employees meet all WHS requirements.
- Provide WHS training if necessary.
- Ensure that health, safety, and environmental policies are followed.
- Investigate workplace accidents and injuries and refer them to the proper authorities.
- Conducting risk assessment and enforcing preventative measures
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs and initiatives, making recommendations for improvements
**What you'll need to succeed**
- You will have experience in a safety role within an FMCG or logistics environment.
- Tertiary qualifications relating to Workplace Health and Safety are essential
- In-depth knowledge of legislation e.g. OSHA/EPA and procedures
- Knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices
- Experience in writing reports and policies for health and safety
- Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics
- Chinese-speaking skills
