Leidos Airborne Solutions Australia provides aerial surveillance services under contract to the Australian Border Force as the largest civil maritime surveillance operation of its kind in the world, and a search-and rescue capability across nearly 10 percent of the earth's surface under Australian Maritime Safety Authority.

**Job Description**:
The Head of Flight Operations (HOFO) is the leader and Accountable Manager of Airborne Solutions Flight Operations Department. The HOFO is responsible for the safe and efficient deployment of Airborne Solutions Australia’s flight operations, including providing oversight and governance of the Flight Operations Department’s component of the Safety Management System, management of Flight Operations safety risks and strategic workforce planning.

**Key Duties and Responsibilities**
- Ensure safe and compliant flying operations in line with our operating manuals and CASA requirements at all times.
- Develop and execute flight operations strategy including workforce planning, recruitment, training and retention.
- Be accountable for all aspects of the flight operations department’s financial performance.
- Support commercial activity with existing clients’ contracts and future and sub-contractors’ bids.
- Provide leadership and operational management for all flight operations staff.
- Liaise with CASA, OEMs and other stakeholders on operational matters to facilitate compliance with requirements for a safe operation.
- Foster open and trusted relationships with stakeholders including customers, suppliers, management team and staff.
- Oversee the management of all Human Resources issues within the Flight Operations Department.
- Ensure all training, conducted under the Part 138 OC and the Part 119 AOC, is in accordance with regulatory requirements and national accreditation standards.
- Develop and maintain operational policies, manuals and procedures appropriate for and in support of a safe operation.
- Involvement in the rostering of Flight Crew.
- Partner with Operations, Human Resources, Talent Acquisition and Finance to develop frameworks for strategic workforce planning and initiatives for pilot attraction and retention.
- Maintain Command recency on one of our aircraft types.

**Qualifications**:
**Qualifications and Clearances**
- Air Transport Pilot Licence.
- Class 1 Medical Certificate.
- Australian Citizen.
- Holds or is eligible to hold an AGSVA at Baseline level and pass an ABF Employment Suitability Check.

**Experience**
- Management of flight operations.
- Relevant experience and knowledge to be acceptable to CASA as the Head of Flight Operations for both the Part 119 AOC and the Part 138 OC.

**Knowledge**
- Flight operations management practices and principles.
- Legislative requirements relating to Airborne Solutions Australia operations.
