**NEW* Direct Hire: Disability Support Worker**
- ** ABOUT THE CLIENT, HER FAMILY, HOME ENVIRONMENT & COMMUNITY...**_
⭐ The client is a 42 year-old disabled single mother with a rare genetic disability called Ectodermal Dysplasia [ED], a neurological condition being Multiple Sclerosis [MS], mental health challenges including Depression & Anxiety
⭐ The client has a 6-year-old son, who has inherited the same genetic disability ED, additionally he has emotional regulation issues & a severe speech sound disorder [so knowing a little Auslan would be a huge bonus]
⭐ You will be needed to assist with the client’s son who has started reduced hours at kindy last week & also when out & about in our community
⭐ The client’s Family includes an indoor pet dog [an AmStaff], who has airborne allergies & some minor behavioural issuesThere’s also an old domestic medium haired cat. You must also be quite comfortable with providing some basic care to the family pets & tending to litter trays & the backyard, as needed
⭐ The client would like to be supported with achieving her life goals & remaining independent for as long as possible, being able to pursue creative hobbies/interests & also starting business management [MBA maybe] or law studies
⭐ The current Family residence is a 3-bedroom townhouse style property (2 storey) with street parking only & it’s located close by, in Western Sydney. The client & her son live downstairs due to safety reasons directly related to the client’s disabilities
- ** THE JOB...**_
⭐ Average of 10-15 hours p/w, ongoing shifts available for the right person
⭐ Must be available for the following shifts, incorporating some home care duties in between, plus school drop off & pickup [in clients vehicle]
⭐ For now, shifts currently requiring placement asap: Mondays 9am till 12pm noon [3], Tuesdays 8am till 12:30pm [4.5] & Fridays 8am till 12:30pm [4.5] = 11 hours total [after 2x 30 min breaks are removed from the 4 hour & over shifts]
⭐ Transportation to school/kindy [using the client's vehicle] - school only 10 mins max drive
⭐ Meal preparation [for evening dinners/snacks] as well as some - light domestic/ad hoc duties, from time to time
⭐ You must be comfortable with notifying the client directly [ASAP] if you are unable to work a shift or need to adjust working times
⭐ You must ensure that you provide consistency in your work & enough attention to detail, with the supports you are employed to deliver & make sure that trauma informed, person-centred care is ALWAYS maintained, no excuses

⭐ Able to assist the client [& her family] in a positive, & supportive, manner
⭐ You will be empathetic, caring, understanding, a good listener & being helpful, all without having to be constantly askedYou will also need to set a very good example [including using your manners] for the client’s son
⭐ Must be honest & have a very high standard of personal integrity
⭐ You will be able to communicate effectively & ask if not sure
⭐ Must be an animal person [& don’t mind a bit fur on your clothes]
⭐ Be adaptable to changing circumstances & think outside the box, in order to deliver good quality supports
⭐ Possess a client focussed & person centred approach, having a commitment to inclusion & equality
⭐ Must value difference & diversity in all of its glory

⭐ You will be good with animals/young children, in addition to adhering to existing routines, as this Family thrives when everything is organised & runs smoothly
⭐ Help with reminders will also be a part of this role, as needed
⭐ You will be able to produce quality care plans/reports & provide honest & constructive feedback
⭐ Strong time management skills & the ability to prioritise daily, weekly, monthly & annual tasks
⭐ Must also be able to make a long-term commitment to this Family
⭐ Ability to collaborate with others to achieve common goals
**Job Type**: Casual
