The role of the function manager is to oversee all events held at the National Museum of Australia including conferences, luncheons, cocktails, dinners, and weddings. Events typically range from 30 to 450 guests.

Specifically, duties of the role will include:

- Event execution: overseeing the function from start to finish on the day/night
- Cooperatively working with the Event Coordinator and Head Chef
- Booking staff for all events; including staff hiring and training
- Working independently for smaller conference events
- Managing a team of staff for larger events such as cocktails and weddings
- Ordering beverages and linen; stock rotation and control
- Creating a memorable experience for our clients and their guests

The function manager position is a very hands-on position and will include the physical aspects of running and managing a function including the setup of tables, chairs, and cocktail rounds along with working smaller conference events without other staff.

Full training will be provided on all aspects of the above including how to operate and manage events, order stock, hire & train staff

**What We Are Looking For**

Experience in a similar role is essential. Applications with management experience in other hospitality areas, such as restaurants, will also be considered. You must be well presented, friendly with great communication, organisational and people management skills.

You must be available to work hospitality hours which will include weekends (mostly Saturdays during wedding season), nights, and the busy events period from October-December.

**Salary**: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
