**About the role**

National Parks and Wildlife Service has a unique opportunity for a **Ranger (Identified)**to work as part of the Clarence team and contribute towards the conservation of the natural environment, flora, fauna and Aboriginal heritage. Our staff are passionate about the spectacular reserves they manage and bring their full self to the job every day, helping drive innovation and delivery of projects.

This role is highly diverse, our Rangers are responsible for planning, implementing and supervising projects, conducting environmental assessments, liaising with visitors and stakeholders, and collaborating with a wide range of people within and external to the agency. Your strong communication and problem-solving skills will assist you in tackling evolving reserve management priorities.

This role is predominantly office based however, outdoor duties such as pest, weed, fire and conservation management, will balance indoor project management and planning work. To thrive in this role, you will be a team player who respects diversity and values a variety of opinions.

**About You**

Your skills and knowledge of natural land management strategies will help build your success in this role. It an essential requirement you have completed a university degree in a relevant field of study such as protected area management, and you are required to provide a copy of your degree qualifications prior to interview.

**About the Area and team**

The Clarence Area is made up of a team of 30 people who undertake a broad range of park management activities across 41 protected areas making up a land mass of close to 190,000ha. The Area manages numerous, very busy campgrounds throughout the beautiful Yuraygir coast, is very active in bushfire management, works to protect a wide range of native species and works collaboratively with a very broad range of stakeholders in the Clarence Valley and beyond. This position is based the main office located on Victoria Street Grafton but there is also a works depot in both South Grafton and Iluka. The Area is fast paced, and the team is very friendly, working together placing a high level of trust and accountability in every team member to ensure success.
