**About the role**
National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) has a unique opportunity for a Ranger to work as part of the Barrington Tops Area team and contribute towards the conservation of the natural environment, flora, fauna and Aboriginal heritage within the NPWS Hunter Central Coast Branch.
The role is Scone-based and includes work in the Barrington Tops National Park, part of the Gondwana Rainforest World Heritage Area and home to unique plants and animals. With over 200,000 people annually visiting the national parks of this area, we manage 11 campgrounds, 35 walking tracks and maintain more than 1,000km of roads and trails. Highlight projects include major capital improvements to infrastructure and bushfire management. You will love the diversity, flexibility and autonomy of this role.
As a Ranger, you will manage natural, historic and Aboriginal heritage by undertaking, and supervising projects, environmental assessments, visitor and stakeholder liaison, and field-based activities including feral animal and weed control, burn planning/wildfire management and law enforcement.
Your strong communication skills will assist you in tackling evolving priorities across various estates. You'll form invaluable professional relationships with Traditional Owners, agencies and stakeholders. You'll also help create a positive, safe, diverse, and inclusive culture. **About you**
Your tertiary qualifications, skills and knowledge of natural land management strategies will help build your success in this role. You'll be a strong decision-maker with the ability to think on your feet, you have a genuine interest in teamwork, collaboration and supporting the growth of others. Your fitness and enthusiasm will enable you to thrive and succeed in this diverse, fast-paced role.
**Essential requirements**
- A degree or equivalent relevant to the field operations of the Agency.
- Current Australian Class C Drivers licence or equivalent and ability to operate four-wheel-drive vehicles.
- Required to obtain certification at the appropriate level prior to undertaking firefighting/incident control duties.
- Willingness to fly in light aircraft and preparedness and ability to be involved in incident management duties including firefighting.
