**Food Services Program - Harmony Club**

Harmony Club is an integral part of St David’s Neighbourhood Centre Mission providing social support group and centre-based respite services to eligible older people and younger people with a disability. The service provides opportunities for friendship, social connection and fun through a person-centered approach that supports individual goals and outcomes. The Food Services program supports participants through the provision of meals (morning tea and lunch) that offer variety, are interesting, seasonally appropriate and meet the individual needs of clients and service users.

**The Role**:
The position is offered as permanent part time at 40 hours per fortnight reporting directly to the Harmony Club Coordinator. The catering & Kitchen Officer is responsible for the planning, preparation and provision of nutritious, balanced meals and refreshments that meet the needs of the centre’s service users and clients in a hygienic and organised kitchen environment within food budget guidelines. Days of work are Monday to Thursday with additional hours to meet the program as negotiated.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Provide nutritious and balanced meals and refreshments to service users, clients, staff, and volunteers who work within the program. This may also include cooking of cakes or other items for special occasions (birthdays, special events, fundraising activities) and catering for events.
- Plan menus that offer variety, are interesting, seasonally appropriate and meet the needs of our clients and service users.
- Organise the purchase of food and other items as required ensuring they are transported and stored safely
- Maintain a safe and hazard free kitchen/work environment including daily cleaning of the kitchen area.
- Keep accurate and daily records as part of the organisations Food Safety Program and participate in food safety audits.
- Plan, prepare and participate in cooking activities with Harmony Club participants in conjunction with other staff.
- Relevant qualification (Safe Food Handling Certificate) in food and kitchen services or willingness to obtain.
- Proven ability in the preparation, cooking and serving of meals to groups of people with a person-centered approach.
- Experience in working with the aged, those with a disability, their family, and carers and those from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to work with limited supervision in accordance with operational guidelines
- Current First Aid and CPR certificate

**Skills that would be an asset to you in this role**:

- Ability to be flexible and willingness to listen to others
- Computer literacy in Microsoft office Suite
- Able to work with limited supervision and as part of a small team
- Effective written and oral communication skills and an eye for attention to detail
- Willingness to work within the ethos of the Uniting Church
