Mount Cotton Medical Centre are looking for an experienced, professional and friendly Medical Receptionist to join our supportive team. This is a position that involves casual hours (hours to be discussed) and must also be able to cover for staff on annual leave / sick leave at short notice.

**Responsibilities**:
In accordance with the practice policies and procedures, the Receptionist will:

- Greet patients and visitors
- Demonstrate Customer service skills.
- Liaise with GPs, other health professionals and staff
- Managing telephone calls and enquiries
- Booking appointments and managing multiple diaries
- Monitor stationery and place orders as required or directed
- Handle incoming and outgoing mail
- Handle cash, EFTPOS and other payments
- Manage Medicare and private billings
- Ensure the practice is always clean, tidy and accessible
- Participate in the practice risk management and quality improvement processes
- Maintain patient and practice confidentiality
- Contribute to the development of a culture consistent with the values of the practice.

**Essential**

The Medical Receptionist will have:

- Previous experience in a medical reception or similar administrative position
- previous experience with our practice software: Best Practice
- A friendly, professional, and empathetic demeanor
- the ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality
- strong computer literacy
- excellent communication skills, written and verbal
- the ability to work independently, show initiative and work productively within a team environment
- CPR training undertaken within the past three years or willingness to participate in training
- work rights in Australia or be eligible for such.
- At least 1 year experience working in a Medical Centre

**Desirable**

The Medical Receptionist will have:

- working knowledge of Windows-based software systems (e.g. Word and Excel)
- an understanding of the Medicare Benefits Schedule
- an understanding of medical terminology, medical and allied health professional organisations and relevant stakeholders
- an understanding or experience in general practice accreditation and standards.

This position is a Level 3 position under the Health Professionals and Support Staff Award. Opportunity to work over multiple sites.
