**About the Role**:
**You will**:
- Deliver individual and group therapeutic services to students with mild to moderate mental health concerns, with a focus on prevention and early intervention. You will be responsible for assessing student needs and collaboratively developing and implementing interventions that are responsive to identified personal, social, emotional and educational needs; and aim to foster resilience and personal skills development.
- Provide professional consultation, leadership and support to schools in the development and implementation of plans, programs, and procedures to assist students with mental health concerns achieve positive educational, developmental and lifelong learning outcomes.
Social Workers are required to participate in regular clinical and operational supervision, to ensure the provision of ongoing professional support and development.
**You will also have responsibility for the following**:
- Providing mental health assessments and support to students and their support networks, including family, school and external agencies across a cluster of schools.
- Provide school staff with information and advice on diagnoses provided by external professionals and monitor students' progress within the school context.
- Building the capability of school staff to support students with mental health concerns through delivering professional development opportunities and providing advice.
- Identify needs and participate in the referral and planning of services for children, parents and families to community support agencies (eg. Health, headspace) where appropriate.
- Provide advice through consultation and liaison with other student welfare staff in regards to students with severe or critical mental health concerns.
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team and facilitate effective working relationships and partnerships with parents, school personnel and external support agencies in order to provide a comprehensive support, case management and referral service that optimises students' access to appropriate interventions.
- Monitor, evaluate and review the implementation of programs provided with the educational environment.
- Conduct activities such as student observation and assessment in order to determine the nature of student wellbeing concerns and make recommendations for educational adjustments and interventions.
- Support school communities in responding to critical incidents and emergencies as part of the school response team.
- Liaise with student services personnel in regions and state-wide centres to promote coordinated services at all system levels.
- Liaise with professionals in other departments and community organisations to ensure coordinated provision of services to students, parents and families (for example, health, education, and welfare).
**A mandatory requirement of this role is**:
- Possession of tertiary qualifications in Social Work and eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
- Driving across a cluster of schools will be required.
This is a PO2 progression position as per the Role Description. The successful applicant will be appointed to the PO2 classification with eligibility for progression to the PO3 once specific criteria have been met or demonstrated. Please note salary rate shown is reflective of PO2 to PO3 classification range.
