The People, Property and Security Division works in partnership to deliver strategic and operational workforce services that enable organisational capability. This includes integrity; conduct; fraud and corruption; performance management; rehabilitation management; recruitment; learning and development; inclusion and diversity; workforce planning and analytics; workplace relations; people support; culture and change; workplace health and safety; property and security.

The Integrity Branch sets the integrity policy framework and works with stakeholders to build a pro-integrity culture through positive workplace values and behaviours. The branch is responsible for the management of personnel security risk and works to prevent, detect and respond to internal fraud, corruption, suspected misconduct and insider threat.

The Personnel Suitability Section is responsible for informing, advising and reporting on matters relating to personnel security risk management within the department, in accordance with the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF).The team coordinates security clearance requirements and security training for international travel and postings, works collaboratively with other sections to ensure eligibility and suitability throughout the employment cycle, and seeks to raise both the security culture and PSPF security maturity through regular engagement and communication activities.

**The Job**
As a Personnel Security Officer in the Personnel Suitability Section you will be responsible for:

- working across a range of personnel security tasks, with a focus on security clearances and their management, to enable the effective delivery of business functions
- building relationships with stakeholders both across the department and with external security agencies to ensure the effective delivery of advice, support and information relating to personnel security matters
- utilising research and problem-solving skills, discretion and sound judgement to provide advice to the business, and to undertake project and policy tasks that contribute to the continual improvement of the department’s security maturity
- contributing to security awareness and communication projects, and the promotion of security and integrity principles across the department
- coordinating routine financial management (such as contracts and invoices) and contributing to the interpretation and reporting of data related to personnel security activities.

**What we are looking for**

**Knowledge and experience**
The ideal applicant for this position is someone who:

- has an awareness of the Australian government Protective Security Policy Framework, or experience working to achieve outcomes in line with Australian government policy
- has experience in considering competing priorities and managing outcomes in a service delivery environment
- has an understanding of procurement, invoice payment and other finance related tasks (preferably in a government context) or the ability to quickly learn these tasks
- has experience working with analytic tools, systems and software or the ability to quickly acquire the relevant skills
- has experience with the development of online interactive forms and/or intranet page management or the ability to quickly acquire the relevant skills.
