This position will have a central role in shaping and growing the National Security capability for our department. You will work across a variety of security, intelligence, business teams and with our external stakeholders to deliver all COMSO functions. You will be a trusted contact for timely and well-considered expert advice and briefings for a variety of security, property, travel and business-related matters.

The People, Property and Security Division works in partnership to deliver strategic and operational workforce services that enable organisational capability. This includes integrity, conduct, fraud, corruption, performance management, rehabilitation management, recruitment, learning and development, inclusion and diversity, workforce planning, analytics, workplace relations, people support, culture and change, and workplace health and safety.

Integrity Branch provides the department with a variety of capabilities including, Fraud and Corruption, Integrity, Code of Conduct, Personnel Security and Insider Threat Detection.

Personnel Suitability section manages capability to assess and manage personnel risk through management of security clearances and advice to the business on all aspects of Personnel Security including security briefings and through our Detection capability that detects and investigates integrity-related activity within the department.

**The Job**
- Lead for the role of departmental COMSO functions, including management of secure communication and resource requirements.
- Provide support to all security teams and relevant departmental business teams, including for our Chief Security Officer.
- Provide expert advice on protective security, national security, and intelligence matters to departmental stakeholders.
- Undertake security risk assessments.
- Maintain departmental protective security governance documents and guidelines based on the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) and analysis of agency-specific security threats and risks.
- Liaise with relevant stakeholders within the department, external agencies, and security agencies.
- Development and/or delivery of security briefs and training.

**What we are looking for**

**Knowledge and experience**
- Experience in performing the role of a Commonwealth COMSO or similar role. Demonstrated knowledge of the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) and protective security guidelines and their relevance in an APS environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge and extensive experience working in a protective security and/or risk management environment with the ability to undertake and deliver security risk assessments and provide expert advice.
- Knowledge of electronic security systems: Electronic Access Control Systems (EACS) and electronic key safes.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience working in a protective security/risk management environment in a public sector agency or equivalent.

**Desirable qualifications**
Qualifications and/or experience as a COMSO or experience in Security, Law Enforcement or Intelligence-related fields would be well regarded.

**Security Clearance** - This position requires a
**Positive Vetting** security clearance. You will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
