The Department of Regional Development, Manufacturing and Water (DRDMW) drives growth for Queensland by managing sustainable water resources, leading innovation in manufacturing, and developing our regions. From our offices in Brisbane and a network of regional offices and manufacturing hubs, more than 700 DRDMW staff work to create a Queensland where communities, businesses and water resources are sustainable and resilient.
The Role
Operating in Hydrometric Operations within Water Operations and Systems you will be required to lead a team focused on business operations supporting state-wide water monitoring. Your role will ensure ongoing service delivery of state-wide water resource measurement and management programs and identified projects.
**Key Accountabilities**:
- Provide direction, guidance, and leadership to others to ensure organisational goals and business objectives are achieved.
- Undertake projects to implement state-wide policy, procedures and standards for the collection, storage, and management of water resource data in departmental systems.
- Provide strategic oversight of the department's water monitoring certified quality management systems.
- Oversee the delivery of the water monitoring capital works program, procurement, forecasting, budget building, asset management and reporting for Water Systems and Hydrometric Operations.
- Coordinate and provide support on the implementation of state-wide service delivery initiatives.
- Prepare submissions, briefing notes and contribute to the development of operational policy, work practices and guidelines, relating to complex water allocation and management issues.
- Represent the department and water monitoring business in a wide range of forums.
- Manage the business operations team human resources to ensure equity, ethical conduct, and a high standard of Work, Health and Safety for all staff.
- Other duties as directed and required.
About You
- There are no mandatory requirements for this role however, an understanding of water monitoring instrumentation and/or finance, procurement and project management would be highly regarded.
