Melbourne, Australia Commonwealth Bank Full time

**Analyst, **NBFI and Funds Finance Risk**

**Financial Institutions Group (FIG)**

**Institutional Banking & Markets (IB&M) Risk Management**

**Location**:Sydney or Melbourne

We seek a proactive and self-motivated individual to join our Risk Management team in Non-Bank Financial Institutions (‘NBFIs’) and Funds Finance.

Each CQI assessment will entail working with our Line 1 Coverage colleagues and Line 2 Risk Executives (domestic and international) to identify and develop an understanding of pertinent details related to a Private Fund’s legal structure, collateral package and borrowing base.

Other duties will include regular sector data analysis and reporting, project work related to process efficiencies and simplification, and performing ad-hoc tasks for the Head of NBFI Risk and the Leadership Team to facilitate informed decision making.

You will join a global team of talented and highly collaborative risk professionals who have responsibility for risk analysis and decision making across the NBFI client set. Specific experience with NBFIs and/or Funds Finance (incorporating capital call facilities, NAV finance and structured hedging products) is preferable but not essential.

**Do work that matters**

IB&M is the Line 1 function of CBA responsible for managing relationships with major corporates, banks, NBFIs, government clients and institutional investors, and provides a full range of capital raising, transactional and risk management products and services. IB&M Risk Management is responsible for the Line 2 oversight and risk management of IB&M’s activities in Australia and internationally in New Zealand, London, Amsterdam, New York, Singapore, Hong Kong & Shanghai.

Together with your risk management colleagues and in partnership with the IB&M Line 1 teams, you will be responsible for ensuring that all CQI requests are consistent with the Banks’ Funds Finance policies and PD methodologies. This involves not only analysis of available information and an eye for detail, but an ability to identify transaction risks and in time develop the ability to act as an advisory function to assist with deal structuring. Having a genuine desire to continually seek better and more efficient ways of doing things is also a desirable element in the success of this very important role.

**In any given week you will.**
- Work as an advisor in a team environment to analyse, process and summarise CQIs for pending deals and annual reviews. This pivotal role will include providing guidance on CQI requests, disseminating transaction information, generating the CQI assessment and conveying key points through written communication to colleagues.
- Maintain, update and monitor the in-house database of the Bank’s investor ratings and provide guidance on past rating assessments, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
- Generate insightful analysis and reporting on key aspects of the Funds Finance portfolio, and contribute to informed decision-making within the organisation.
- Keep Funds Finance guidelines and PD methodology documentation up to date, ensuring compliance and accuracy in our internal processes.
- Provide training on the CQI process to new colleagues in Risk and Coverage, promoting growth and proficiency across the teams.
- Develop and maintain relationships with Risk and Coverage colleagues across various geographical locations, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing within the team.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the team through individual development and process/policy/procedure simplification projects.
- Be a proactive and supportive member of a very collaborative team with a high value placed on a strong team culture.

**We are interested in hearing from people who have**:

- Minimum of 2-4 years’ experience in a financial institution with 1-2 years’ experience in NBFI or Funds Finance preferred.
- Relevant educational qualifications.
- Good proficiency in working with excel and other data analysis tools.
- Strong analytical skills and an eye for detail;
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of management and internal stakeholders;
- A willingness to make and defend conscious and evidence based risk decisions
- Problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
