**The Opportunity**:
Lithgow City Council has an exciting opportunity for a **Human Resources Trainee **to join their People & Services team in Lithgow, NSW.
**During this two year Traineeship you will complete a Certificate IV in Human Resource Management **through a combination of formal training and practical on-the-job experience. You will gain knowledge and contribute to the provision of human resources services including employee relations, learning and development, HR systems, policy and procedures, performance management and recruitment and selection.
Council are looking for a highly-motivated individual to undertake the following duties:
- Develop and maintain a knowledge of the Local Government (State) Award and other relevant employment relations information
- Assist to provide information and advice to all staff on Human Resources matters with reference to the relevant Award, policies and procedures, including but not limited to: terms and conditions of employment, induction, resignation/retirement, salary administration, staff benefits, employee assistance, disciplinary matters, and grievances
- Coordinate tertiary, compliance and corporate training requests as required in adherence with Council’s annual training plan
- Contribute to the development and updating of policies, corporate practices, procedures and/or guidelines to ensure they comply with Award and statutory requirements
- Contribute to a variety of Human Resource related projects

**About you**:
- Eligible and willing to undertake a Certificate IV in Human Resource Management
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Demonstrated customer service skills
- An understanding of Work Health and Safety
- Commitment to the principles of honesty and integrity including the ability to maintain confidentiality

- Between $432.70 and $1,104.50 per week commensurate with your age, skills, qualifications and experience
- Temporary 2 year Traineeship
- Full-time, 35 hours per week

- Work/Life balance with a rostered day off every third week.
