**Job Summary**:
**Supervises and coordinates activities of warehouse covering**:
receiving,
safe and secure storage of inventory,
physical and system management of inventory,
issuing, and shipping BCAL products,
maintenance of safe day to day working environment.

Manages the BCAL Distribution Centre. Is responsible for the overall day to day direction and coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning and assigning daily and regular tasks, and directing work; managing performance; addressing customer expectations and generating an environment of continuous improvement.

**Responsibilities**:
In conjunction with Operations Manager, establishes training schedules to ensure all DC staff are aware of and comply with BCAL Policies and Procedures and Statutory Requirements as applicable.
Project manages shipment and delivery of capital equipment for installation and / or demonstration purposes.
Conducts induction training for new storemen in the Distribution Centre.
Conducts training and instruction for DC staff, including where new procedures are implemented or procedures are altered.
Manages overall workflow in the DC to meet agreed service levels, including Receiving functions, Despatch functions and Coolroom operations.
Prioritises & manages urgent orders. Where necessary, consults with CAS, TC, Service Engineers etc. to identify best method to meet urgent order requests.
Assigns duties and examines work for accuracy neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
Advises employees on care and preservation of items received, stored, and shipped; methods and use of equipment in handling, storing, maintaining, and shipping stock; and related problems.
Provides timely responses to all notifications of errors and complaints.
Ensures timely development and implementation of corrective actions.
Responsible for raising purchase requisitions for all DC supplies.
Organises repair and periodic maintenance of DC mechanical equipment including coolroom, VCAs and forklifts.
Ensures adequate standards of housekeeping and general cleanliness are maintained in the DC.
Works with Inventory Support Controller to provide support resources where required for inventory control tasks.
Provides active input to the development of procedures and work instructions to improve efficiency of subordinates and DC operations generally.
Compiles data for KPI measures as required.
Maintains harmony among DC staff and provides first level support on staff problems or grievances. Escalates issues as required to Operations Manager.
Support the team as required, including being active in the receiving/shipping/coolroom duties (40-50%)

Error Minimisation and Correction
Write Off Levels (attributable to DC operations)
Stocktake Accuracy
Training Schedule Management

**Job Requirements**:
Strong verbal and written communication, analytical, organizational and customer service skills are important. The ability to meet sometimes short deadlines and to be detail-oriented are also essential. The ideal person should be team players that can motivate and manage various individuals to work together to achieve the same goal.

Understanding planning, shipping, warehouse management and inventory systems
Managing daily routes/schedules of shipments and deliveries
Tracking the progress of shipments
Knowing all aspects of warehouse operations
Reviewing inventory needs
Possess forklift certification and able to train others on forklift operations
Strength in organising and managing people in a team environment
Have certification in dangerous goods shipments for air and road freight
Knowledge of continuous improvement / Lean principles would be an advantage.
