**About this role**:
This government office is seeking a talented Planner to champion their Competitive Design Policy and coordinate design excellence processes. You will be a highly motivated, solutions focused individual capable of balancing a broad range of stakeholder needs and expectations, negotiating and delivering positive outcomes in a timely manner. This is an amazing opportunity to join a team renowned for promoting design excellence which has contributed to shaping the city’s urban and public realm.

Join initially on a 6 month contract basis, with a view to transition to permanent.

**Key responsibilities**
- Assist the Design Excellence Manager
- Coordinate and guide the convening of design competitions
- Attend to applicant enquiries related to design competitions and design excellence
- Process the internal review of draft design excellence strategies and competition briefs that are prepared by applicants in accordance with the Competition Design Policy
- Review and advise on design excellence strategies and competition briefs
- Attend competition convenings
- Maintain the competition register to ensure records are kept up to date
- Comply with any relevant legislation applicable to the position

**Skills and experience**
- Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning
- Working at a level equivalent to 5+ years public or private sector experience within Town Planning
- Demonstrated practical expertise in design quality and development assessment processes
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Detail orientated and solutions focused
