**Position Information**:
Albion Park Rail Public School is located in the Illawarra in a suburb to the south of Lake Illawarra.
We are a school with steady enrollments with a current enrolment of 350 students. The school has a positive school culture underpinned by three core values, safety, respect, learning. Through our school's core values, we strive to prepare all students to become passionate, curious learners who demonstrate persistence, responsibility, kindness and acceptance.
There is a strong culture of engagement due to high quality teaching and learning programs, catering for individual needs, and a supportive school community. Albion Park Rail Public School has a Support Unit for students with additional needs. There are two IM classes, two Multicategorical (MC) classes and one Autism (AU) support class. The support unit totals 57 student enrolments in five classes. 7% of our students have a language background other than English and 28% identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.

**Selection Criteria**:
In addition to the general selection criteria,
1. Approval to teach special education and manage students with complex learning needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual Disabilities, and students with diverse behavioural and emotional needs, K-6.
2. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the proven ability to work collaboratively, proactively, and professionally with colleagues, parents, carers, school learning support officers, DoE personnel, external support agencies and the wider community.
3. Expert leadership skills with the ability to lead and coordinate a Learning Support Team to develop and implement high quality differentiated curriculum including, but not limited to, Individual Educational Plans, Behaviour Support Plans, transition planning, Access Requests and Student Reviews.
4. Experience in leading behaviour management processes and procedures which support positive behaviour choices and manage challenging behaviours.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
