**Background of the Kwinana Waste to Energy project**:
Avertas Energy is Australia’s first large-scale Waste to Energy facility under construction in Kwinana, south of Perth. Once operational, the facility will recover resources and energy from 400,000 tonnes per annum of municipal, commercial & industrial waste diverted from landfill and has the potential to reduce CO2 emissions by at least 400,000 tonnes per annum. Additionally, enough electricity will be generated to power 55,000 homes in the Perth area.

Since 2014, Ramboll has provided consultancy services to the Kwinana Waste-to-Energy Project. During the manufacturing, construction, commissioning and testing phases, Ramboll is the Owner’s Engineer and is responsible for ensuring that the facility meets all local and contractual requirements and incorporates lessons learned and best practices from other Waste to Energy facilities around the world. Ramboll will also oversee the performance testing and commissioning of the facility and transfer to commercial operations.

**Your responsibility as Health and Safety Advisor**:
You will be reporting to the Ramboll Project Manager on site at the Kwinana Facility and you will be responsible for providing monitoring of 3rd party contractors involved in the construction, commissioning and testing of the facility.

You will be part of our Ramboll team based on site in Kwinana, which includes multiple disciplines on site and a vast experience base in the back-office in Copenhagen. You will liaise with the Client, Avertas Energy’s, management team, with the EPC Contractor Acciona and with the O&M Contractor Veolia.

It is your responsibility to verify that the works are conducted professionally, according to industrial practise, according to Australian Standards and according to contract. You will be expected to identify any areas of concern and to liaise with your counterparts to get issues resolved in order to safely complete the project. Specifically, this is though the following day to day responsibilities;
- Undertake Site Inspections
- Ensure Works are being undertaken in accordance with Safety Management Plans, Legislative requirements, and the EPC Contract
- Review SWMS/JHA’s against scopes of work
- Review Permit to Work Register in accordance with corresponding site activities
- Review site activities in accordance with known Critical Risks
- Liaise directly with the EPC Safety Team in relation to critical areas of concern for immediate resolution
- Monitor the resolution of any identified health and safety issues
- Review all Incidents and ensure that close-out processes are satisfactory
- Provide advice of any new issues to the Ramboll and Avertas Leadership Team
- Facilitate quarterly reviews from Avertas 3rd party auditor and coordinate closure of any findings
- Contribute to weekly and monthly reporting
- Provide Health and Safety coaching and advice to the Ramboll and Avertas team

**You and your competencies**:
The following experience is highly desirable in this role
- Experience on Australian construction sites managing Health and Safety, either as Client or EPC representative. Experience in the commissioning phase is also highly desirable.
- Suitable tertiary qualifications and registrations in Health and Safety
- Minimum of 10 years practical and relevant experience
- Ability to work in Australia
- An excellent communicator and problem solver with a targeted focus on producing solutions and has a strong character not afraid to handle opposition when challenges arise.
- Proactive and flexible and thrives in an independent job. Your tasks will demand a great ability to keep a sense of perspective, a structured approach to your work as well as the ability to see something through.
- A team player and cooperation with colleagues from other areas of the business comes natural to you.
- Comfortable in speaking and writing English at a high professional level. You especially have strong verbal skills, as you will convey and communicate technical information to colleagues, the Client and the EPC contractor.

It is important that you can see problems and issues from the Owner’s perspective, and you know how and what to prioritize when times get hectic.
