**ABOUT THE ROLE**

Downer is one of Australia’s largest and most experienced contractors to the transmission and renewable energy sector, delivering power systems projects nationally for both utility and private developers. Downer’s Energy & Utilities team is seeking an enthusiastic, driven, and creative **Commercial Manager **who is looking to play a part in energy transition and decarbonisation efforts. The role will ideally be based in **Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane **, where you will be able to leverage your expertise through the provision of pre-contract commercial support.

You will be the Commercial Lead on a range of bids involving design, procurement, project management, construction, commissioning and complete operations of substations, transmission lines and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Your day-to-day tasks include, but are not limited to:

- Providing guidance on commercial and contractual issues, risks, challenges, and opportunities to contribute to decision-making, working closely with bid teams and project delivery teams.
- Leading negotiations with clients to align with Downer's contracting standards and governance requirements.
- Understanding contract ramifications and employing a proactive approach to risk management to identify potential risks and develop risk mitigation strategies.
- Build strong positive relationships and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.

**ABOUT YOU**
- Hold a tertiary qualification in law, construction management, engineering, accounting or similar is required.
- A proven track record of commercial management experience in construction projects, preferably within transmission and renewables.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen, detailed understanding of contracts and ability to structure and negotiate an array of commercial contracts
- Excellent communication skills to manage internal and external stakeholders in a complex project environment.
