The Opportunity
We are seeking a talented individual with significant experience in Product and Service Safety (P&SS) management within the Defence and/or civil aviation environment to join the P-8A Poseidon program as our Program Safety Management Coordinator (PSMC), based at RAAF Base Edinburgh. Reporting to the Program Manager, the successful applicant will assist the Program Manager meet the BDA Safety Management System (SMS) requirements and to develop and maintain the program Safety Management Plan (SMP) to align with the BDA SMS.
We are looking for someone who is an excellent communicator who can engage and motivate diverse and geographically dispersed teams. We are looking for someone who is team oriented, influential and likes a challenge.

**Responsibilities**:

- Manage the implementation of BDA SMS into the program on behalf of Program Manager;
- Develop and maintain the Program SMP and records;
- Analyse and monitor safety data and program Safety Performance Indicators (SPIs);
- Review program Product and Service Safety (P&SS) trends, safety investigation findings and causal factors;
- Facilitate, coordinate and prepare the program Safety Review Boards;
- Provide independent advice to Program Manager on P&SS matters;
- Promote and facilitate a positive safety culture within the program;
- Facilitate and coordinate hazard identification and safety risk analysis from program safety focals;
- Provide input into the audit scope of program activities with program Environmental, Health, Safety (EHS) and Quality specialists;
- Support/co-ordinate safety investigations;
- Represent the program at customer's P&SS forums and communicate with the customer and Interested Parties as necessary on issues relating to the performance of the program SMP;
- Monitor P&SS concerns in the industry and their relevant impacts to the program product;
- Plan and facilitate SMS training for program personnel;
- Assist with management of change activities from a P&SS perspective;
- Provide interval summaries to the BDA Aviation Safety Manager on safety investigations and program safety performance.

Experience/Qualifications
Essential
- Minimum of 5 years' experience with aviation safety risk management and assurance activities within a Safety Management System
- Formal safety management training, preferably post graduate qualification in Safety or Risk Management
- Experience working in a highly collaborative environment, and building close customer and executive team relationships through trust and open communication
- Working exceptionally well in a team environment with outstanding interpersonal skills

Desirable
- Statistical qualification or demonstrated experience working with statistics
- Human Factors qualification and facilitating experience
- ISO 9001 qualified Lead Auditor
- Military Aviation Authority or Civil Aviation Authority Inspectorate training
- Advanced SMS, risk management or equivalent training
