Finisar Australia is seeking a talented Equipment Technician to join our team in Sydney.

As an Equipment Technician you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and competent assembly, testing and commissioning of production equipment and to provide a timely and effective response to maintenance and calibration requests.

**About the role**
- Maintain production rigs by developing planned maintenance and calibration activities to ensure excellent up-time of equipment
- Review breakdowns and modify equipment and processes appropriately
- Respond to breakdowns to minimise downtime in production
- Liaise with external suppliers for the repair/maintenance of equipment
- Review production rigs for risks to health and safety
- Build and commission production rigs

**Necessary skills and experience**
- Practical ‘hands on’ skills
- Open and enquiring attitude to mechanical and electrical issues and working with engineers to resolve issues
- Intermediate computer literacy skills
- Hold relevant licences

**Desirable experience**
- CAD/CNC machining
- Working with Optical test equipment
- Working with Optical Fibre, connectors and splicing
