In this role you’ll be a leader of WTW’s legal function in Asia and Australasia. You’ll be responsible for managing a team of attorneys and support staff and may serve on various committees across the region. This role can be based in either Melbourne or Sydney.

**The Role**
- Manage the provision of general legal, transactional and regulatory advice to the Asia and Australasian Risk & Broking business leadership teams
- Manage day-to-day legal issues in the Australasian business and the Pacific Islands
- Serve as trusted adviser and resource on legal matters for the above-mentioned business teams
- Drive functional projects and improvement initiatives aligned to business objectives
- Lead, motivate and manage a professional team, including the monitoring of colleague wellbeing and progress against inclusion and diversity objectives
- Undertake and oversee effective engagement with the company’s business clients, government regulators, vendors, external lawyers, trade bodies and other parties
- Manage legal issues effectively and efficiently in line with WTW objectives and values and within company and entity risk appetites
- Manage departmental spend in accordance with budgeted spend and Outside Counsel Guidelines
- Work with the broader global legal and OGC (Office of General Counsel) teams as a high-functioning and collaborative group
- Effectively use management information together with efficient and timely upwards reporting of all key issues and recommendations to the General Counsel (International region)

**The Requirements**
- Proven track record as a senior lawyer across private practice and/or in-house with unrestricted practising certificate and in good standing as a practising Australian lawyer
- Solid track record of handling complex and sophisticated legal matters in an efficient and commercial-friendly manner
- Knowledge and experience in financial services laws and regulation, with insurance broking experience strongly preferred
- Ability to work closely with and influence all levels of senior management whilst providing strategic legal advice
- Ability to handle confidential information and opinions with discretion whilst remaining calm under pressure
- Ability to see the big picture in terms of the Company’s legal and ethical obligations for the protection of its reputation
- Demonstrated effectiveness in managing professionals with the ability to inspire and mentor others
- Experience with company secretarial responsibilities is preferred but not mandatory
- Ability to support legal and compliance aspects of M&A (including due diligence) and to identify potential issues
- Ability to evaluate and advise on the impact of regulatory changes and to support the Company’s businesses and functions in addressing those changes
- Innovative thinker, effective delegator but established hands-on lawyer, with a record of diligent and active involvement in projects
