**POSITION DESCRIPTION - **Coordinator Civil Services***
**Purpose**
The Coordinator Civil Services encompasses leadership, planning and management of the Civil Services
areas within Council. This individual will be responsible in providing direct support and direction to Field
Supervisors and outdoor employees of Civil Services Operations through ongoing motivation and
collaboration.
The primary objective of this position is to manage and improve the service delivery through improving the
capability and capacity in Civil Services Operations with a commitment to work towards a long-term
community vision of delivering the best service in response to local needs.
Effective communication skills and the ability to maintain solid relationships with internal and external
stakeholders will be vital to this role.
As a leader of the organisation you will have the customer, community and safety at the forefront of all you
do, to provide the highest level of service both externally and internally.
**Key Outcomes**
- Foster and lead a team culture focused on safety, exceptional customer service and productivity
through the delivery of service to community and Council expectations.
- Contribute to a solutions-focused culture that strives for continual improvement.
- Develop, plan, manage and monitor works and programs to drive optimal productivity of the Civil
Services team.
- Support and provide clear direction of expectations and accountabilities to Field Supervisors and
wider workforce. Including development and tracking of KPI’s where required.
- Achievement of various KPI’s set by management.
- Develop, manage and report on the progress of works against program targets and expenditure
against budgets.
- Ensure that Civil Services operates within budget requirements to meet work area plans.
- Responsible for managing contractors, including the cost-effective delivery of works, contractor
supervision and adherence to appropriate work health and safety procedures.
- Occasionally prepare and coordinate reports, correspondence, information for management.
- Promote and deliver strong customer service to external clients and internal departments.
- Provide effective coaching, mentoring and support to develop team members. Human resource
activities associated with workforce planning, recruitment, learning and development and individual
performance development reviews.
- Contribute to the management of operational risk and implement risk management processes within
the business unit.
- Contribute to innovation and change management across open space operations.
- Implement WHS, delivery of programs, resource management and planning, performance targets and
policy and procedural updates.
- Responsible for ensuring the review of WHS processes following legislation changes, ensuring
consultation with WHS and Risk. Implementing new processes to ensure delivery and WHS
compliance.
- Ensure all Work, Health and Safety legislation and regulation obligations are met by modelling and
promoting Think Safe Live Well” philosophy for all staff, members of the public.
- Responsible for incident management and coordination of response and outcomes.

**Person Specification**
**Essential Requirements**
- Australian residency.
- Advanced communication skills both written and verbal.
- Minimum 5+ years leadership within the Civil construction or maintenance industry
- Minimum 10 years relevant Civil experience
**Qualifications (Desirable)**
- Tertiary level qualification in construction management or equivalent experience**
