Project Management Lead
This role is with a boutique urban development consulting/advisory firm based in Sydney. The role will appeal to someone who is an experienced and skilled project manager with a keen interest in working with state government agencies like Landcom, DPIE and with NGO’s on how to optimise the development of greenfield urban development projects and urban renewal precincts.
The firm, led by Director, Chris Avis, has grown steadily since its inception in 2019 and has built a reputation for providing critical technical advice, design and project management services for highly complex projects. IDC offers an extensive range of project types, including Infrastructure Prioritisation, Sequencing and Funding to Infrastructure Master Planning, Land Development and Urban Renewal work. The IDC firm prides its success on having a holistic view when approaching all projects, from projects that focus on environmental sustainability, to financial and social projects.
Examples of these projects include
- Western Sydney Aerotropolis
- Greater Penrith to Eastern Creek
- Marsden Park North & West Schofields Rezoning Strategy
**This opportunity will resonate with those who** are ready to join a firm where you will have a greater amount of autonomy in your day-to-day role, plus a genuine say and opportunity to guide the businesses strategic growth. Additionally, you are someone who possesses strong leadership skills, who can provide guidance and is able to create a vision for their team and motivate them to perform at their best.***
- A comprehensive experience and a broad understanding in urban development, from the early planning stages to timelines and how investment is prioritised to maximise the benefit for the impacted communities.
- An extensive project management experience, relevant to the development and delivery of complex projects for state government and private developer clients.
- Strong interpersonal skills, as you will need to directly manage clients. It is important for you to have excellent communication skills and enjoy engaging and collaborating with others as you will be working with a multi-disciplinary team and various stakeholders.
- The ability to be adaptable and flexible when approaching projects and when working as a team. When working with IDC you will be given the opportunity for new experiences and the exposure into new areas of work, allowing you to continually develop new skills. This is not a role where you will be doing the same things year in, year out.
- The ability to work with and nurture more junior team members to help them advance their capabilities and progress their career within the company.
**What skills are less relevant**
Project Management is a broad brush term. This role is to project manage urban developments in the development phase. This means core it is less about PM skills like Primavera and P6. The work is also largely civil engineering orientated so is less about urban design/planning and architecture.
